Het Geheim van Snelle Ontkieming: Waarom je de Bioome Grow Domes nóóit moet weggooien

The Secret to Rapid Germination: Why You Should NEVER Throw Away Your Bioome Grow Domes

You've unpacked your Bioome Smart Garden. With the pods, you'll find small, clear plastic domes. Packing material? No! These are your 'Grow Domes.' They are the secret weapon for a lightning-fast start. Without these domes, there's a high chance your seeds will never germinate.

What exactly does a Grow Dome do?

Think of a seed as a sleeping baby. To wake up (germinate), it needs two things:

  1. Warmth

  2. High Humidity (100%)

In a dry living room, moisture evaporates from the sponge faster than the seed can drink. The solution: The Grow Dome creates a mini-greenhouse effect. It traps the warmth from the LED light and prevents moisture from escaping. This creates a tropical microclimate where the seed "thinks" it's spring, even in the middle of winter.

The Science: In professional Controlled Environment Agriculture (CEA), humidity control is crucial. Constant humidity prevents delicate root hairs from drying out before they reach the water reservoir.

Step-by-Step Guide: From Seed to Sprout

Use your domes like a pro with these 3 simple steps.

Step 1: The Start

  • Place the seeds in the moist sponge (pod).

  • Put the pod in the holder of the Smart Garden.

  • Click the Grow Dome on.

  • Ensure your tank is filled with water and nutrients.

Step 2: The Waiting (The Greenhouse) Now nature (and Bioome) do the work.

  • The LED light provides warmth.

  • The domes retain condensation (you'll see droplets on the inside: that's good!).

  • The pump circulates oxygen-rich water under the pods.

Step 3: The Critical Moment (Remove it!) This is where many people go wrong. As soon as you see the first green leaves appear (after 3 to 14 days, depending on the herb), or as soon as the plant almost touches the top of the dome: REMOVE THE DOME!

Why should the Dome be removed?

You might think: "Nice and warm, leave it." Wrong. If you leave the dome on for too long after the plant has germinated, two bad things happen:

  1. Suffocation & Mold: The plant cannot "breathe," and the high humidity invites molds (like powdery mildew) onto the young leaves.

  2. Cooked Plant: Under the dome, the temperature can rise considerably due to the lamp. A germinated plant will then burn.

The Rule: As soon as you see green, the dome must come off. The plant is now strong enough to survive in the "real world" (your room).

FAQ: Frequently Asked Questions

How long does germination take? Patience is a virtue.

  • Lettuce: 2 - 5 days (Speed demons)

  • Basil: 5 - 7 days

  • Tomato: 7 - 10 days

  • Parsley/Mint: 14 - 21 days (The slow starters. Don't give up!)

Do I need to add nutrients during germination? Yes! The sponge itself is "inert" (contains no nutrients). Unlike potting soil, which contains nutrients, in a Bioome you should start immediately with water AND the A&B nutrients. The young roots need minerals as soon as they emerge from the sponge.

My seed does nothing after 3 weeks. What now? Sometimes a seed is just a 'dud' (not viable). That's nature.

  • Tip: Always put 4 or 5 seeds in one sponge. Do they all germinate? Then cut away the weakest (thinning) and leave the strongest. This way you have a 100% success rate.

Conclusion: Small Dome, Big Result

The Bioome Grow Domes are not plastic waste; they are the incubator for your plants. Use them to ensure the ideal start, but know when to say goodbye.

  1. Dome on when sowing.

  2. Dome off as soon as you see green.

It's that simple to successfully germinate 365 days a year.
